Check out the PetStep - http://www.petstep.com/. We just completed a 4,000
nm cruise with our 80 lb. lab and never had to lift him. It took a couple
of days for him to get comfortable with walking on it but now he loves it
because it means that we're going out to play! It can also be configured to
be attached from a swim platform into the water so the dog can get back onto
the boat from the water. It's well made and has held up. We saw them on
other boats in the Bahamas too.
