    >Looking at West Marine Catalog I have been floored by the prices of the
nice padded folding chairs with vinyl seats and sturdy double tubing
    etc.

We needed an extra chair in the main cabin of our GB36, preferably one
that folded up in some way or another. We were leaning toward the
standard "directors chair" when my wife happened to visit the local
Orvis store in search of something. She saw they had a very nice wood
chair, somewhat similar in operation to a directors chair, but much more
substantial. I don't know what she paid for it-- it wasn't hugely
inexpensive, but it was a lot more inexpensive than the "designer brand"
teak chairs we've seen in catalogs. The chair is carried in the on-line
Orvis catalog, which calls it a "tilt-back campaign chair." It is a
"teak-like hardwood" and apparently if left outside it will weather to a
gray in the same way as teak. We have ours inside, so I assume it will
retain its oiled wood color. It is very comfortable, and when not in
use we keep it folded up between the high-low table and the settee. The
arms fit under the table, so the chair is totally out of the way when
we're running. It seems quite well made.
