T&T: Morse Controls - strange problem

Here's my problem: I have Morse two-handle controls on the upper and lower
stations of my 1984 Monk 36 trawler.

Last year, I had no problems. This year, at the upper station, I have about
a 5-second delay when shifting into reverse, and the handle action seems
stiff. There is little or no delay at all when shifting at the lower
station. The upper station cables come down and tie into the lower station,
so only one set goes aft to the transmission.

Lot of post-Isabel work was done to the boat, but nothing (to my knowledge)
would have affected the adjustment or alignment of the shift cables.

    Any ideas? Thanks!!

    Harry R
