Kevin,
How long have you had your trawler? We had a 32 ft trawler, and when we
bought it, my first thought was to install a generator and bow thruster.
Then I thought that no owner before me ( it was a 1983 boat) had needed
either, so maybe I don't. With some practice, I mastered the "back & fill"
method of using the prop wash to kick the boat around. It's been discussed
here, and discussions are probably in the archives. I got pretty good at it.
I could probably find some links to single engine handling if you want them.
I know I didn't answer your question directly, but if this is a new boat to
you, maybe wait a while.
