I hope that I am mistaken--but it seems that Duane Maher has violated a T & T
rule--that of blatently advertising a product.
He first touted Island Girl Products, then trashed West Marine and finally
refered to the Island Girl Products as though he as an interest in the
company. I have delt with West Marine since Randy was selling rope out of his
gargage. If you have a good working relationship with the West Marine Store
manager I find that you can still get almost any product which you desire. I
have placed a number of special orders, some of which were for products not
normally carried by West Marine.
There is no question that there are very high mark ups in all retail
business.
If I am wrong and Mr Maher has no interest in Island Girl, I appologize--but
he should disclose his relationship, considering what he posted.
I would also challange his assertion that there are only 6 retail marine
product stores in California. There are still many stores which sell marine
products--many marinas, shipyards and a number of small retail enterprises
which still fulfill the needs of customers.
Bob Austin--no interest in West Marine or other retailer.
