Actually, we had cell phone service up to the Port Hardy area, then again
once past Queen Charlotte Sound. Being in the wireless business, we carried
several cell phones with us and found that, although the coverage was
different between the A and B sides, it was roughly equal. Once you get
into sparsely populated areas, coverage is spotty, up through BC and SE
Alaska. I suggest you carry either Verizon or AT&T or best yet, both. BTW,
there are also areas where, even though you have good signal strength, that
particular provider does not have reciprocal agreements with your carrier
and you can't use their service.

Last time I was in the area, cell phone service stopped north of Desolation
Sound.
