I have two 30A shore power connections on my 42' Krogen because I also have
two reverse cycle AC units. I have jumpered the two connections on the boat
together so that I only use one of the two 30A cords/connections. Everything
is fine as long as I do not try to use both ACs at once off shore power. It
would be OK running both off the gen set. However, since I cruise in the NW,
I have never even used the ACs once. As a bonus is that I got an extra shore
power extension cord for nada.

Do the math. At WM, _two_ 30 amp fifty foot shore power cords will cost
you $90. One fifty amp cord will cost you $520. You could replace your
two thirty amp cords _five_ times before you would break even.
You will always be able to find some place to plug in your 30 amp
cords. The same is not true for a 50 amp connection (unless you buy a $120
adapter). You will not carry less weight; a fifty amp cord is more than
twice the weight of two thirties.
