Not sure the whole list wants to read my raves. I LOVE the new boat. She is
everything I hoped for and more. I have a single engine Volvo 145hp turbo
engine with both bow and stern thrusters so I look like a real pro when I
bring her into a dock or lock. From the upper helm (will I ever use the lower
one?) I have 360 degree view, unlike the Nordhavn where the view was very
restricted, none to stern. Thus Cinderella is easy to handle.
Had two hairy times though, one in my 2nd lock in Holland along with 2
barges. My crew released the lines too soon and the prop wash from the barge
in front threw us all over the lock, banging the sides of the lock. No damage
done however and we learned a serious lesson! Next thrill was docking the boat
in Spooner's Creek Marina, Morehead City NC. I just nudged the bow thruster
and it stuck on, madly turning the boat in a tight circle. It could not be
shut off from anywhere so it turned until it burned out. Probably 4 min max
but seemed like forever! I am really proud of how I managed the boat, moving
her out of harm's way, and staying 'cool'. Vetus replaced the parts a few days
later. Thank God that didn't happen in a crowded lock! I
I now feel very comfortable handling the boat. Her low profile is just
great, the walkaround decks with high gunnels perfect for Lincoln, my
Shih-tzu. I love the flying bridge which is still not top-heavy, and the deck
behind is on the same level so neither helmsman nor guests feel isolated.
Below, the interior, finished in cherry, is most comfortable with separate
cabins, heads. How did I ever live without an icemaker? It keeps us all cool
and still fills the large cooler I keep on deck for the imortant things like
beer, bulky things like lettuce. Four of us lived very comfortable aboard for
3 weeks coming down the ICW. The compliments we got on that trip were very
rewarding. She really IS a gorgeous boat! She won the 'Favorite Boat Award' at
T Fest in Solomons as proof!
