I was told by Raymarine tech people that if the pilot is used at low speeds,
e.g., trolling for fish, then it is best to size up since the pilot works
harder in maintaining course. If the pilot is used mainly at faster speeds
then the pilot suggested in specs will work fine (in your case the smaller). I
talked no more than a month ago directly to the tech people at Raymarine, that
actually do the repair work on the units--that's what they said.
