After a fair bit of puzzlement over what this unit did, I went through the
manual and finally doped out what they are doing. I was highly amused that
someone would put so much effort into building this rather sophisticated unit
    that really was pretty useless!

While the company purports that the unit will sound if you anchor drags, in
effect, all this unit does is measure the distance between the boat and the
anchor, and sound an alarm if the distance increases. Since the only thing that
will cause the boat/anchor distance to be greater than the length of the rode is
the rode breaking, this is not an anchor drag alarm, but rather a anchor
    loss/rode break alarm.

If you drag anchor, the anchor is still attached to the rode, and will therefore
still be at that same distance from the boat - and this unit will happily report
that you are not dragging. The alarm would not sound, even though your boat was
    merrily blowing across the anchorage.

It would appear that the unit could be set to alarm if you lost the centenary
(i.e., the rode was fully extended with no chain on the bottom), but just
because the rode has become fully extended does not mean you are dragging. I
sure wouldn't drill an extra hole in the bottom of my boat just to mount this
    unit.
