    Rob,

Based on one year's experience in the Pamlico Sound area, I found it possible
but not pleasant to cruise during the Jan., Feb., March period. Pamlico Sound
is shallow and brackish. Onshore winds produce a very unpleasant chop that
unsettles the strongest stomach. Of course the year I was stationed there might
have been one of nature's freaks. All the locals kept saying "You should have
been here LAST year." It's funny how you keep hearing that phrase wherever you
    go.

Now my question for lubrication mavens. I have an old sailboat powered by a
Volvo MB10 gasoline engine (2 cylinder, 14 hp. at 2000 rpm). The boat has been
under tarps for several years and the engine has not been run since 1995. What
would be the best way to start it up without scraping too much metal off the
bearings and cylinder bores? My first plan was to take the spark plugs out,
pour a tablespoon of oil in each cylinder, and crank it by hand a dozen or so
revolutions. Anyone have any other suggestions?

    Larry Z
