Subject: [Boatpokers] winterizing

Fellow pokers & Bob Cristina
I've had several naps and many senior moments since i last read one, but
if
memory serves me correct, I think that the MerCruiser owners manual has a
good
section on winterization and why. Good luck though on convincing the
cheap-skates why they should winterize instead of the light bulb or
heater.
All it takes is a few hours of no electricity and someone buys a new
engine.
And of course, it's the insurance company that should pay, right. Just
job
security for all of us that do insurance claims work.
Don't know about other areas, but here in Oklahoma, when the electricity
goes
out from ice or snow storms, marinas are the last to get the power back
on,
which may be days. Sorry, but i could never have any sympathy for any one
losing an engine because they were too cheap to pay a technician to
winterize
the engine properly, or to learn how themselves (since that was how i
made my
living). I do have SOME sympathy for the guy who TRIED to winterize and
didn't
know to poke a wire into the petcock to loosen the accumulation of rust
and
silt in the block. Just my 2-cents worth.
