Anecdotal evidence abounds around the religious wars between single and twin
engine fans. Here's some actual metrics for this year on my twin Lehman
120s... Displacement is 45,000 lbs (it's my home). My guesstimate of the
delta between single and twins would be 4 GPH on the single vs. 6 GPH for
the twins, but that's not the whole story.

There are a number of reasons why twins make sense for me:
    1. Backup, I blew a velvet drive off the coast of Georgia last year and got
    in on the other engine
    2. Efficiency, two 125 amp alternators pounding juice into the house bank
    and windlass bank
    3. Diagnosis, with 2 engines and an optical thermometer you can take a
baseline on both engines and find anomalies before they turn into problems
    4. Maneuvering, easy for a single hander
    5. Mass, I had a single engine 40' sedan and was scared a lot. My twins are
a lot of weight (1,100 lbs each) down low and I've never been scared in this
    boat.
    6. I'm stupid, when I take one engine apart; I've got the other so I can
figure out how to put it back together correctly.

    Your mileage may vary...
