I have always been from the "single engine school". Sailboats, trawlers,
outboards, airplanes. Too much maint. and too much fuel burn with twins.
My son just bought a new Grady White fishing boat with twin 150HP Yamaha
Four Strokes. In looking at the Grady web site I was surprised to find their
specifications showed better speed and better fuel economy with two 150's
than with a single 225! We went out on the boat for the first time on Sunday
afternoon and the speed and fuel burn were very close to the Grady prediction.
Makes me wonder about the fuel economy issue with twin engine trawlers. Is
that just a myth perpetuated by guys like me??
