For the record:
Regularly starting engines with COMBINED BATTERY BANKS masks any weaknesses
in the starting batteries and may also mask starter deterioriation.
I only start my engines with combined batteries once or so a month to
exercise the combining relay....By regulalrly listening to the starting (turnover)
speed its pretty easy to tell when it slows which indicates it's time to poke
around down there.....
I would personally never want any AUTOMATIC combining of battery banks
during start loads.
