Trawler World magazine, the creation of West Marine Trawler Fest founder
Georgs Kolesnikovs, has been sold before it ever published an edition.
The buyer is World Publications, which will incorporate Kolesnikovs9
magazine into its new Power Cruising title, scheduled to debut in February.
The deal includes 3trademarks, circulation, advertising and Web site
assets,2 according to World Publications. No terms were disclosed.
Kolesnikovs, who was to have been publisher of Trawler World, becomes editor
at large on Power Cruising.

advantage in this particular segment of the power cruising market,2 said
Power Cruising publisher Sally Helme, in a statement. 3Georgs is widely
recognized as a leader in this category.2
Trawler World was to have been published four times in 2004 out of Stuart,
Fla. It was only in October that Kolesnikovs had announced its launch, with
a targeted circulation of 50,000.
Power Cruising will be based in Newport, R.I., the home of World
Publications9 Sailing World and Cruising World titles. Pierce Hoover has
been named editor of the new publication, which targets affluent readers who
own motoryachts, express cruisers and trawlers.
In a statement explaining the deal, Kolesnikovs said World Publications has

better than anyone else.2
Kolesnikovs has spent four decades publishing and editing magazines and
newspapers, and is a former editor of Circumnavigator. He founded the West
Marine Trawler Fest series in 1996, and later his TrawlerWorld.com. His
Trawler World List is the 3most popular forum about trawlers on the
Internet,2 according to World Publications, and he also edits Trawler World
News, an electronic newsletter.
Power Cruising will publish two editions next year before moving to a
bimonthly schedule in 2005.
