Subject: TWL: Propane range for trawler

    >I'm looking to replace the propane oven/stove on my 49' trawler - with a
new version of the same basic thing: propane, 3-4 burner stovetop, oven
with broiler (21" or larger). We don't need gimbals. Any
recommendations (pro or con) out there?

We had a non-gimballed Force 10 three-burner with oven and broiler
installed to replace an ancient Magic Chef right after we bought our boat
five years ago. The Force 10 has done a terrific job, and my wife who is
an accomplished cook, loves it. Also, Force 10's customer service is
outstanding in my opinon. The oven burner recently refused to stay lit.
It would ignite just fine, but no matter how long we held the safety switch
down, the burner would go out the moment we let up on the switch. I
assumed the burner thermocouple was bad. Called Force 10, the service guy
said, no, let's not change a thermostat just yet. Try tightening this
connection. I did that, no change. So I need a new thermostat, right?
No, said the service guy, I'm going to send you a replacement connector for
the safety switch. The new connector is an improved design over the
original. Then he described the simple installation procedure. Part
arrived, I installed it, burner lit and stayed lit. Called Force 10, said
problem solved, what do I own you for the part. Well, said the service
    guy, nothing, really.

So based on our experience so far, we would not hesitate to recommend a
    Force 10.
