TWL: Portlight Replacement

I'm looking at working on, or replacing, the portlights on my Willard
    36. 2 are round, 4 are rectangular. It seems like I recall Perko as a
brand name on them but I don't see that Perko makes portlights. Mine are
painted and I could remove and re-finish them. They appear (where some
paint is removed) to be a dull gray metal - aluminum? Galvanized Steel?
It doesn't look like stainless or bronze. If they do get replaced, I'd
like to use something very ship-like - perhaps Freeman
    (http://www.freemanmarine.com/Index.htm) or New Found Metals
    (http://www.newfoundmetals.com/port.htm)

I've sent this to the Willard Boat Owners mail list for more specific
suggestions on exactly what might be the straight replacement for the
OEM units, but I thought it pretty likely that there is some experience
here with some lessons learned on portlights. Any advice?
