Subject: Faryman diesel low oil pressure

A blow boat friend has a Faryman (German)18HP diesel engine in his boat, which
is driving him nuts after 28 years and only 1300 hours.

The engine is a 2 cylinder (V-2) system, Model R30M, raw water cooled.

At cold startup, oil pressure reads 80psi+. As engine warms, it drifts down
to 18 psi after 30 minutes or so at running speed- at which point he shuts it
down for fear of seizing the engine.

    Pertinent info is as follows:
a.. Cylinder top temps remain cool to the touch (90-120 degrees), but
the cyl jackets get hot, as does the oil pan (over 220 degrees)
b.. Oil levels are fine. Same with filters and screens.
c.. Cooling water flow is fine, and water never gets hot enough to open the
thermostat. The engine runs cool anyway.
d.. Oil pressure sender, and gauge have been replaced, and are fine
e.. Oil cooler is clean and unobstructed.
f.. Engine runs smoothly throughout the process, and there is no exhaust
    smoking, steam, etc.
g.. Oil seems to be breaking down due to heat.
My uneducated guess was the oil pump.

Any leads anyone can provide would be appreciated. Offline is fine too.
