Judy and I visited Key West by car this past long weekend for the first
time, and reconfirmed our interest in cruising through the Keys next fall.
One of the places we're interested in visiting is Garden Key and Fort
Jefferson in the Dry Tortugas (about 60 nm due west of Key West.

We've read the guide books about the area, but would appreciate hearing
from those of you who have made the trip and stayed there. How long did you
stay? What is the "right" amount of time for the stay? What are the real
restrictions on anchoring or picking up a mooring, and how difficult is it
to get a mooring? What about a place to land in a dinghy, and is it
protected enough for an 8 foot Dink?

Would also like to hear about your favorite anchorages and marinas in the
Keys (particularly Key West), and those you would avoid! There seemed to be
a lot of small marinas, at least from the "windshield" tour along highway 1.
