    Advice sought:

I am installing a new Vetus/Deutz DT 67 diesel engine in my canal boat. I
purchased a GCF Oil Bypass filtering system to be installed during initial
    engine installation.

The engine supplier/installer is telling me now that Vetus has told him that
they will not warranty the engine if I install the bypass filtering system.
According to the Vetus representative, "they have had three engine failures"
that they somehow attribute to the installation of the oil bypass filtering
    system.

I fail to see how this system could be the culprit in an engine failure, but
I just drive 'em, not fix 'em.

To be fair to GCF, I have not contacted them yet due to the holidays.

Any thoughts or experiences concerning this issue?

    Thanks in advance,
