You already have alternators and regulators on the engines, so it sounds

A word of advice to those with OEM alternators on older boats.

If you add a large house bank which normally gets recharged by a 100 - 120 amp
    inverter,
monitor the case temp of your alternator when you charge this large bank from
    the engine while running.
Some of these OEM alternators were never intended for prolonged full output
    running and they may overheat.

You do not have to get complicated or spend a lot of money.
Buy one of the indoor /outdoor thermometers from an automotive stores for about
    $10
They come with a length of wire connecting the temp sensor and the readout so
you can glue the sensor to the alternator frame and place the display in a
    convenient place to view it.
Don't let the case temp run much over 180 -190 F or around 90C
That may save some cooked wires.
