The recalled breakers were not as dangerous as one may have been led to
believe. The problem with them is as follows, I seem to recall.
If there was an overload or short, the breaker trips, as normal. If you try
to reset the breaker while the overload condition continues to exist, the
breaker will immediately trip while your finger is still on the toggle, basically,
it won't reset This is the correct operation. The problem that caused the
recall was that if you reset the breaker under overload, it would not immediately
trip "under" your finger but would stay made until you let go, creating a fire
hazard.
