I installed transmission oil temp sensors and guages two years ago on my
Allision transmissions coupled to DD 8V71T's.....
I checked the guage readings with a temp gun and confirmed 185 degree temps
at 1500 to 1600 RPM....about five degress warmer than the engine temps....

At higher RPM I don't have much experience, but they seem to run around five
to 10 degrees hotter at 1800 or 1900 RPM....

I like temp guages on transmissions because on a prior boat metal plate wear
had partially clogged the coolers which I disovered one day when the oil
melted off the end of a plastic funnel (!!!!)I used to add some fluid....that was a
Warner Velvet drive on a DD 6V53.

    Cheers,
