Hello all!
Does anybody know who has the right to buy diesel fuel at tax-free rates in
ports world-wide? Is this different from country to country or is there an
internationally accepted rule?
I'm asking because I suppose it would hurt somewhat to end up in a place
without fuel only to find that the cheapest diesel I qualify for in a 4000
mile radius is $4 per gallon. This, and because the ship I am researching has
tanks to a total of 15000l/4500 gallons... it adds up...
I see MDO sells for around $250/mt in world ports. That's around $250/1200l ~
$.20/l ~ $.80/gallon if I'm not very mistaken.
Now how do I qualify for that price - register the ship through a company???
Or register it in Panama?
Any insight is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Alex
