I have one 12,000 BTU AC unit in my boat, and wish to add a second unit,
which will probably be a 16,000 BTU unit.

The already installed unit is kooled by a Cal-Pump A/C pump rated at 9/7
GPM. This produces a respectable discharge stream and my unit has never
shut down due to overheating or lack of water flow. The specs in the
marine catalogs state that the Cal-Pump model I have is good for units up
    to 24,000 BTU's, but I will have 28,000 BTU's.

Here is my question. Can I use this pump, in series, to cool both AC
units? The compressors will not be near each other and there will be some
additional 40 feet of tubing for the feed and discharge for the second
    AC.

The recommended procedure is to have two separate pumps, with two
separate intake and discharge thru-hulls, filters, etc., or isolated
cooling systems for each AC. Eliminating one set will save money and
    probably installation time.

I have asked a couple of other people with dual AC units what system they
have. A neighboring boat has put the two AC's in series, using one AC
water pump, and has actually measured the temp of the discharge water
with first one unit running, then the second unit running as well. He has
only noticed a few degree rise in the discharge water temp, and thus
feels his AC systems are getting sufficient water to do their cooling.

Any advice coming from Florida or other warm climate, warm water users
    would probably be comparable.
