Michael,
It sounds to me like it may be the color of some of the oils that were used.
Many oils have resins that cure after a while as well as some color to them.
You might want to try some paint remover to see if it will remove the cured
resins. Keep in mind that any of the original teak has bleached somewhat
over the years and it will take a while before the new construction teak
blends in well with the original.
Good luck,
Bob Lowe
>>>>I need to brighten some of my interior teak panelling (veneered
plywood). It
has never been varnished, just oiled and cleaned for 25 years, but it has a
deep reddish color which contrasts strongly with some new construction that
I've recently installed. I've scrubbed it with orange cleaners, etc. which
has
brightened it somewhat, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of any other
approaches.
