I too suffered the black screen phenomenon near the end of todays run. I
thought it was simply a dead display, but perhaps not. The screen is just
barely visible in dim light. Can anyone tell us how to restore the screen
intensity when you can't see what's on the screen?
-----------------------------
How did you get to the black screen? Maybe the computer went on a
power saving mode. When it happened to me I had tried to
get onto TWILIGHT (Control I) It turns out that the first time I had tried
to
use this setting I had moved the slider to the darkest setting.
If you can get your computer in a dark spot and let your eyes adjust, boot
up your computer. Open VNS.
Click VIEW, then SET SCREEN INTENSITY. Let your eyes adjust to
the almost black screen . You should just make out the outline of the
slider
adjustment. Drag the button in the opposite direction -- up to make it
lighter.
You should now have a twilight screen that is readable. Then click on
normal. OR just click on normal, however if you try twilight at some
future
time you will end up with the black screen again so you need to fix the
slider.
Note: CONTROL I will switch you from normal to twilight and
CONTROL I again will get you into the night screen. CONTROL I again will
NOT get you to normal. It just toggles back and forth between night
and twilight. The secret to get to normal is to just clickt plain I .
