The wifi stuff is a good idea, but not the total solution, IMHO. In my
Florida to Maryland (and back again) trip, I've used wifi for the big
downloads and occasional surf-fests. It's still pretty hard to find
hotspots outside of major cities, and then it might still be a trek to
get to a hotspot. My day-to-day solution has been the Sprint PCS hookup
direct (no modem) through my cell phone. It's not perfect, and can be
frustrating at times, but allows for connections from the boat. The
online minutes don't come off your talk minutes, and the speed is faster
than a cellular modem, but not as fast as wifi. There are also some
tricks that you need to do to keep from getting bumped offline.
