Keith: First may I apolosize for mis-spelling you name, it was quite early in
the am and I did not reread. I now have read the page you suggested and it
appears to me that if you want to bring a firearm into Canada and wish to cruise
into our country let us say in May or June you would have to prepare for your
permit sometime in early winter. Really, how many of us plan that far ahead
(g)? The bureaucrats in both countries (Canada & USA) have has by the you know
what. We have done pretty extensive cruising in both countries as well as
foreign i.e. Bermuda and the Med (to Greece) and none of our Canadian friends
have carried guns whereas some or few Americans did, and in many cases did not
declare. I do not understand why anyone would take that chance considering the
penalties that they could receive. I personnaly believe the person who started
this thread did not do his homework other than an American right to bear arms.
Most of us do have a flare gun aboard and I remember a movie I once saw where
the 1st mate (female) fired off a flare at the intruder which appeared to do
one hell of damage and no permit was required. Lets go cruising (next summer
for us here in the north country). Regards. Leonard Stern MTOA #893
