The truly pure stuff is de-ionized water which has virtually all
contaminants removed. This is not the natural state of water and it is
thus quite reactive and will erode metals that are not coated. It is
used for various purposes in labs as well as medical and industrial
processes. I am not aware of any household uses for D-I water.
