West Marine battery combiners have zero voltage drop, They come in sizes
for 50, 150 and 400 amp alternators - the Balmar is only rated at 30 amps
and costs 2.5 times the West Marine 50 amp. West Marine units are
bi-directional so the alternator will charge the house battery and the
inverter or shore power charger will charge the starting battery too.
You can see specifications and download owner's manuals from www.yandina.com
They come with an UNLIMITED warranty. Installation is elementary - one lead
on each battery bank, one on ground. No programming or adjustments. The 50
and 400 amp versions are submersible, the 150 amp is splash proof. All come
with remote control capability and LED indicators.
I'm not unbiased. We invented and have manufactured the West Marine battery
combiner since 1993 with over 20,000 now in the field.
