I replaced my 8D's with pairs of 6V AGM golf cart batteries. Wired in series
to provide 12V, they work very well and require no maintenance, other than
keeping the posts clean and tight. The 6V's are a lot easier to handle than
the 8D's and take a charge very well. Here's what I used:
