You're right. This is not the boat that Bill advertises for $250,000.
That is the Diesel Duck 44 that Bill built hull #1 for me. Makena is 48
and as you noted significantly customized. By the way DD44 hull #2 just
arrived in Hawaii after a 17 day passage from upwind from Fiji. David
Katz (65) made that trip single-handed. Except for the first leg, Hong
Kong to PI, he's single handed to Australia, I think New Zealand and
Fiji. My building pictures are at the site in my signature block. I
moved mine with a crew of 3 from China to Hong Kong to Yokosuka, JA
    (1700 miles, 10 days)

    Folks,

There has been some discussion on paravanes over the
past few weeks. I recall some (many?) comments about
being a PinTA deploying and retrieving.

May I commend to you this boat and what appears to be
very nicely designed poles and supports.

This boat is a George Buehler designed "Diesel Duck"
built at Bill Kimley's Seahorse Yachts
    (http://www.seahorseyachts.com) near Hong Kong.

I would recommend perusing the entire Makena site
    (http://www.cadwell.net/Makena.htm) for a wonderful
keel laying to finished boat picture history.

As an aside, I have no personal info one way or the
other but I can't imagine that Makena is a stock DD
that Seahorse advertises for $250K delivered. Just
looking at the photo's suggests lots of extra added
features. IMO a really nice looking trawler yacht
fully capable of voyaging anywhere there is enough
water to float her. YMMV as always.

No commercial connection - just an admirer.

    Regards,

    Leo
