Marin I just realized how much I disagree with you're windows rake thingy
First I realize those opinions are you're own and you are more than entitled
to them. Varying opinions without written contempt is what makes this list
special. Call this more an addition or contrast to what you are saying.
I am squirming because I added up the real cost of my forward rake windows
that you wouldn't like.
Gorgs has asked me to do a write-up on my current project complete with
photos. Its a rotten day to work on the boat and so I am writing. I added up
the extra hours that I probably spent by raking the windows forward and
rounding the corners of the glass in the pilothouse and adding some extra
pilothouse sheer. The cost of the extra sheer, 16 hours, the cost of raking
the windows forward 60 man hours, the cost of rounding the window corners $200
and 40 man hours. The real cost is more time that my boat is not in the water.
I could have done the pilothouse job in less than half the hours if I wanted
square corner windows, no rake and a squarish pilothouse like the one in the
dream boat photos. That may be the reason for the reasonable price. Easier to
build that design.
Is it worth it. You betcha, boats are meant to fuel our passions instead of
just being a hole in the water. I want my jewelry and wear it too. <grin>
