Fred,
I pulled the injectors on one of my 120 Lehmans a couple of years ago and
like you, this was my first time and I'm not a mechanic. It's not
difficult, anyone with a little mechanical talent can do it. The only
special tool I bought was a swivel head for a 1/4" socket to get the
retaining bolts out. I removed the injectors by gripping the stems with
large pliers and gently moving them side to side and up and down. They all
came out with little effort. Get a lot of clean rags to place down in the
heads to catch any dropped bolts, washers, etc. I removed mine and took
them into a local shop that did the rebuild. After I did mine I learned
that American Diesel will send you out a rebuilt set and then you return
your's to them to get your deposit back. This sounds like a better deal
because you can finish the job in an afternoon without waiting days for a
shop and the quality of American Diesel is the best. After rebuilding mine
I still have smoke and fuel on the water even after it's warmed up, I'm not
impressed with the quality of the local shop.
Good luck

I have noticed white smoke and slick on water coming from my exhaust
after engines have warmed up. I suspect it is time to service the
injectors.
