Along a similar vein, what is the minimum amount of chain, on a mixed rode,
that is necessary to protect against chafing (on rocks, etc) in an area
with coral heads, rocks, etc? I'd prefer to keep the bow as light as
possible, and on a 35 foot boat, 100 feet of chain is going to add a lot of
weight.
Right now, I have about 8 feet of chain followed by 200 feet of 5/8"
three-strand nylon. I'm guessing I probably need more chain, but how much
is "enough?"
