    Aluminum is a very tough material but if you drag it over rocks or concrete
    protruding areas and edges will wear. Small boat dealers sell wear pads,
    usually made out of a PVC or polyurethane plastic that are glued to the wear points
    to protect them. We protect our aluminum boatyard pram from the wear caused by
    dragging it up a rough concrete ramp bly gluing short lengths of 2x2" wood
    strip next to the wear prone area. The front edge of each strip is wedge shaped
    to minimize water resistance. The glue is rubbery GOOP. When the strips wear
    down in a couple of seasons, they are pulled off and replaced.
