Phil,
I'll bet that the failure of your barrier coat was not due to the product
you used or to the way you prepped the hull.
I have a friend that was going to barrier coat a Mercer 44 last spring.
The boat is still on the hard, because the moisture content in the hull
is considered too high to apply the barrier coat. Eventually, that will
come down as a result of running heat lamps and fans while the boat is
out of the water.
I suspect that because you are a live-aboard, you did not give Curmudgeon
a very long dry out time, or check the hull with a moisture meter.
By the way, my boat is identical to yours, same model and model year,
etc. I have never had an osmotic blister on the hull. It is perfectly
clean. Used in Florida waters all of its life - go figure.
