I hauled out today after 3 years in Florida waters and the pressure
washer took the bottom paint off in sheets. I had put on Devoe barrier
coat about 6 years ago and it held up in northern waters, but apparently
failed in the warmer waters. I also suspect I may not have removed all
the wax before the Devoe was applied. I aggressively sand blasted the
hull, and then hand buttered it with epoxy before fairing and applying
the barrier coat. Apparently I should have use a specific wax removal
product rather than acetone, but that's history now.
My question is what is the best and worst barrier coat product from a
cruiser's perspective? Are some better suited to warm waters? I'm happy
with Trinidad SR, but I want to make sure I choose the right product
this time...
Regards.....
