Hope this is useful for someone.

I believe there has been some discussion about the problems that some of
us have with slow fuel fill rates. My recollection is that discussion
focused primarily on tank venting issues. Fill rate for the port-side
tanks of my almost 20-year-old Taiwanese trawler has been painfully slow
so, having upgraded my tank vents earlier, I finally removed my fill
hose. The hose was a little soft but not alarming. I was surprised to
discover that the interior of the hose had swollen and was deteriorating
so that it was nearly blocked with flakes, bands and curlycues of rubber
that were still attached to the hose - but just barely. The worst areas
were probably low spots where fuel could sit and work on the rubber.
The hose carries a red stripe which, I understand, indicates a fuel
hose. Not only was this not passing fuel at an acceptable rate, it has
been adding to the debris in the tanks. I assume there may be others
that have a similar condition - and if so, I hope they have clear access
    for replacement.
