    I have received 21 responses to the Survey. That number (out of hundreds of
    TWL members) is perhaps not a statistically significant sample and who knows if
    heavy users are too busy to respond or light users are too embarrassed of
    their 10 hours per year to respond. Your guess is as good as mine.

    Terminology: "mean" is arithmetic average; "median" is the "number in the
    middle", i.e., half of responses were greater than median, half were less; "mode"
    is the most frequently occurring value; "max" and "min" are self explanatory.

    HULL: 15 full displacement (71%), 6 semi (29%)
    LENGTH: mean=41, median=42, mode=45, max=55, min=25
    NUMBER OF ENGINES: 13 singles (62%), 8 twins (38%) (all are diesel)
    HORSEPOWER: mean=153, median=135, mode=135, max=350, min=35
    MANUFACTURER: 6 Lehman, 3 Deere, 2 each Volvo, Cummins, Perkins, Cat and 1
    each Yanmar, Universal, Gardner, Iveco (twins count as one)
    GPH: mean=3.5, median=2.0, mode=2.0, max=16.0 (Cat 350 in GB 42), min=0.7
    CRUISING SPEED: mean=8.1, median=7.2, mode=8.0, max=17.0 (Cat 350 in GB 42),
    min=5.5
    DAYS/YEAR OF USE: mean=95, median=75, mode=100, max=365, min=10
    ENGINE HOURS/YEAR: mean=321, median=250, mode=200, max=1000, min=40
    GEN HOURS/YEAR: no gen = 6 responses; of those with gen: mean=251, median=70,
    mode=50, max=1200, min=0
    NAUT. MILES/YEAR: mean=2250, median=1500, mode=1000, max=6500, min=400
    CRUISING AREA: Gulf of Mexico coast, Florida, Bahamas: 8 (38%), Pacific coast
    US incl PNW: 7 (33%), east coast US 3 (14%), Chesapeake 2 (10%), Hudson River
    1 (5%)
    ANCHOR/MARINA: data not easily analyzed but looks like about 50/50
    FULL TIME LIVEABOARDS: 3 (14%)
