For my boat we chose MURPHY gages .

These are a bit more involved to install as all are pure mechanical
gages so must be ordered with proper sized cap tubes for temp gages , and
all this must be wiggled somehow to the engines.

    Advantage is twofold .

I even with a TOTAL electrical failure the engine gages will still read
correctly 100% of the time ,( though you might need a flashlight at
    midnight).

The biggest advantage is the gages have user setable alarm points that
will watch every setting on every gage and ring a bell, OR Automatically
    Secure the engine if desired.

No ships electric is needed for the Auto Secure function .

Could save your engine , gen set , whatever, if a constant watch on all
    engine gages is not done.

Not as cheap as VDO , but better in a boat.

    FAST FRED
