I don't know how many on this list received the advertisement magazine
that was full of self serving BS concerning a trawler mfg.

One section was completely incorrect concerning fiberglass resin boats
and how they burn , compared to a steel boat.

AS a past Mfg of GRP boats to Subchapter T ( the Coasties say any
cardboard box can be licensed to kill 6 at a time , but at 7 passengers
and up , there ARE rules).

A hunk of oak has a burn rate of about 100 ,

plywood or pine is about 200 (burns 2X as fast).

Standard cheapo resin burns at 500!

The Coasties REQUIRE any Sub T vessel to use FG resin with a burn rate of
    100 or less.

Yes they take samples , send them to their lab & burn them.

For about 3 cents a pound investment the Fire Retardant resin can be
lowered to a burn rate of 15 (self extinguishing) as is the norm in
factory air ducts .There is also a cost of about 3% in strength loss,
but Sub T boats require 400% of expected loads , so 425% isn't much extra
    weight.

To claim that a steel boat would be destroyed by a fire , but a GRP (of
500 burn rate!!!) would not is the advertisements claim.

Fraid I would have to disagree.

You ONLY get what you pay for is normal ,
but IF you know what to search for it could make life loads safer.

    MY OPINION ONLY

    FAST FRED
