I need some advice on running diesel engines at relatively low RPM. Here's
my situation. I have twin Cats, 3208T's that max out at 2800 RPM. I am told
that cruising RPM is 2400, which pushes my Gulfstar 44 at about 13.5 mph. If I
reduce my RPMs to 1500, I only lost about 3.5 MPH, but I reduce my fuel
    consumption by more than half.

My question is this. Do I harm my engines by running them at that low RPM.
The engine temps are good at that RPM, and all the other dials and indicators
are fine as well. I get conflicting answers from the guys at the marina. I
appreciate any advice any of you can offer.
