It doesn't take much power to move a trawler at 3 or 4 kts. We solved the
problem of a "get home" drive by putting a small outboard mount on the swim
platform. If the single diesel engine fails we can simply transfer the dinghy
outboard to the mount and (slowly) motor home. Our 2 hp. Honda 4 cycle outboard can
push our 16,000 lb. Willard at about 3 kts.
