I grew up boating. However, Jan's introduction to boating was when we got
our first boat, a 28' express bridge. Easter weekend (we'd owned the boat
all of a week) we went out for a day cruise. Jan had just bought some
Easter Lilies and put them on the dinette. After all, that's the way all
the boats are shown in the pictures. I didn't know she had done so and
hadn't thought to ask. When she went below later she was most dismayed to
find the lilies on the cabin sole and dirt all over. I told her that was
what the galley sink was for, to put things in so they didn't tip over. Now
Jan is much more thorough about securing for sea than I am, and the bottle
of red wine is always moved from the galley counter into the sink. Some
things you just can't risk losing. :)
