    Yes indeed. I've noticed this effect many times in the ICW on Que Linda
    (55', 6' draft, 70 tons.) At first I thought it was the autopilot acting up
    but after a while I noticed that it works fine as long as I have at least 6
    feet of water under the keel.

    There is some effect in shallow water even without the presence of banks.
