Problems of this type often find their origin in the original design of the vessel.
Either the vessel manufacturer choose to ignore this type of need, did
not adequately provide for future additions, or the design of the vessel
predates the technology that one is currently trying to install. In any
case, meeting some installation specifications exactly may not be
economically feasible for most of us, forcing us to attempt creative
installations to get the equipment up and running. No safety shortcuts
are implied here. We just have to make one of those many judgment calls
that one faces when upgrading an older vessel
