I bought a Strobotac off ebay so I could calibrate my tachometers. You
have be careful how your use it because you may be looking a harmonics. I
wouldn't have bought the strobotac specifically for this purpose because of
the cost. I had always wanted one for other purposes. It was a "fun"
exercise for this old retired. Electronics tech. :-)
My ultimate solution was to install a mechanically attached tach sender on
the side of the Lehman 120 engine. I connected it to a separate digital
tach at the lower helm. I like it because it isn't subject to cut-out
when the alternator stops charging on full batteries. Then I adjusted the
two old tachs to match the more accurate digital tach. The reason I still
have the old tachs is the hour meter. I didn't want to install new hour
meter and then "forward" them 3000+ to the current engine hours.
